Take Part

To take part in our masterclasses the members of your ensemble should:

  • Be under 19yrs of age on 1st September 2019
  • Be in full time education or have a permanent residential address in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion or Pembrokeshire

We define an ensemble as a group of three or more players/singers without a conductor and each player/singer performs an individual part.

Just bring along a single piece of music you’re currently working on, no longer than five minutes in length. This may be a stand-alone piece or a movement/part of a movement from a longer work. It would be a great help if you could bring a spare copy of the music to the masterclass.

To take part, simply fill in the form below and either email it to Helen Mcnabb  or post it to the address provided.

The deadline for applications is Friday 14th December 2018.

Young Ensembles of Dyfed

Young Ensembles of Dyfed is an exciting initiative open to young players and singers who perform together as members of an ensemble.

Young Music Makers is offering young ensembles the opportunity of benefitting from an individual masterclass in January 2019. The masterclasses will take place in a school or schools based in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire and our aim is to offer the members of the group advice and support on:

• listening, watching and interacting

• musical interpretation

• achieving the right balance

• phrasing, articulation and dynamics

• tuning and intonation

• developing good stagecraft and performance techniques

The masterclasses will be led by Rhys Taylor. He is a former winner of the Young Musician of Dyfed and has developed performance, directorial and compositional excellence in classical as well as jazz contexts as well as a solo career playing the clarinet.

Your ensemble should prepare a piece of music lasting no longer than 5 minutes in length.

If performing from a written score, a copy of this should be made available on the day of the masterclass.
